With the current un-resolving Newcastle Disease (ND) outbreaks that still troubling the poultry industry in this region, over 140 participants from various backgrounds (producers, veterinarians, feed mill, laboratories, university and regional press) coming from West to East of Malaysia and Brunei, earnestly joined with the aim to discover the latest solution for ND control.
The seminar started with Dr Marcelo Paniago, Global Technical Service Director, took the challenge to address the question “Why it is so difficult to control ND?” despite the 1st discovery of this disease was almost a decade ago. With wide spread of ND worldwide and 241 avian species around the world that could possibly infected with this disease, control of this disease is an increasing challenge. Acknowledging the limitation of current conventional ND vaccines and the interference of maternal antibodies, Dr. Marcelo then took the opportunity to introduce the concept of the latest technology of ND vaccine, Vectormune® HVT-NDV, as safer, more efficacious, evades maternal antibody, long lasting, deeper and broad spectrum protection with only one administration in hatchery, as the latest solution towards ND control.
“It is my pleasure today to be here in this wonderful and historical moment in which we are now in this new era of vaccine. We believe that as a researcher and a person in poultry industry, we are looking forward to new technology like Vector Vaccine, the vaccine of the future”, said Professor Dr Mohd Hair Bejo, Dean of Faculty Veterinary Medicine, University Putra Malaysia as he started to share his experience and promising results of local challenge trial Vectormune® HVT-NDV in commercial broiler.
Efficacy and safety of this product were supported further with 100% clinical protection until 72 wks of age when challenged with Malaysia ND Genotypes VII as disclosed by Dr. Marcelo Paniago in commercial layers. Mr Carlos Gonzalez, Technical and Marketing Equipment Manager complimented Vectormune® HVT-NDV with C.H.I.C.K. Program, a holistic approach in vaccine handling, ensuring quality of vaccination administration and monitoring. Dr Branko Alva, Poultry Corporate Product Manager concluded its compatibility with Cevac® Transmune as the Perfect Pair in broiler.
This event reached its highest peak when Dato’ Dr Vincent Ng, President of VAM, WPSA and MAFAV and Professor Dr Mohd Hair Bejo ushered the arrival of Vectormune® HVT-NDV. With the atmosphere of celebration and delight, everyone tossed for ‘The Future Is Here’!
At night, the Gala Dinner was kicked off with a warm opening speech by Dr Roberto Soares, Asia Pacific Poultry Regional Market Manager, following by video clip of Ceva Malaysia entitled ‘Together We Serve You Better’, fantastic Robotic and LED dances and light entertainments.
